Guide to Days of Communication

Guide to Days of Communication

As previous four years, Days of Communication organisers (Croatian Association of Communication Agencies – HURA and IAB Croatia), aim to dedicate the festival’s content to the integration of trends and expertise in the field of marketing communications. After integrating online and offline, creativity and efficiency and Cannes and Croatia, fifth edition of Days of Communication will be the integration of advertising with public relations. It is held in small town on the  west coast of Istria, Rovinj.

Rovinj is one of the most popular and most developed tourist resorts in Croatia. The old town is built on the island, which was only connected with the mainland in the 18th century. Known as one of the most picturesque and romantic towns on Mediterranean, over the last few decades Rovinj attracts a large number of tourists. Rovinj manages to combine, in a very interesting way, its rich tradition with the modern times. As it is also an active fishing port, you can experience the atmosphere of a small fishing village, especially during the popular fishermen’s festivities or at one of the traditional taverns called Spacio (in the past, very popular among fishermen). On the other hand, the town has been developing an exquisite gastronomy and offers a high standard of tourist services in general. The city at the foot of the Church of St. Euphemia is the favorite gathering place of artists from around the world. Walking down its streets, you’ll bump into many art galleries and studios.

There are many beautiful parts of Rovinj you should visit while you are on the brake between lectures, workshops and panels at the Days of Communication. There is the magnificent Old Town which rises up on a peninsula and is a witness to times gone by and valuable accomplishments of its past artisans. The limited space led to the construction of narrow buildings, streets and small town squares. Of particular interest in this town center are the characteristically designed chimneys and colorful buildings. Then there is the church of Saint Euphemia which bears the name of the patron saint of the town. It is build in 18th century. Also there are sights like; The baptismal font of the Holy Spirit,  The Franciscan Monastery, The castle on the island of Sveti Andrija (St. Andrew), The Museum, Rovinj Aquarium and other.

If you are hungry there is no better place to eat in Croatia then Adriatic coast.

There are many restaurants in Rovinj and the best that you should visit are; Barba Danilo and it is  located within a small family-run camping site, then there is restaurant Blue situated north of town a few steps away from the coast and the Borik beach. Feral is an atypical restaurant in Rovinj located in the neighborhood of Lacosercio, reachable on foot in just about 10 minutes from the town center. Other restaurants are; Kantinon tavern, Maestral, Monte, Orca, Paštrik, Sidro all located in the center of the city. The specialties are based, of course, on the wide selection of fish and seafood, as well as on traditional fine food such as prosciutto, truffles, asparagus, ombolo (dried pork loin), sausages, boscarin (Istrian ox meat)… all that additionally improved by delicious olive oil and accompanied by excellent white and red wines.

The climate in late March and early April is unstable. Temperature can varies from high temperature of 12° to lowest of 8°. There is a probability of rain so I will suggest to take an umbrella and a jacket. The sea is not for swimming yet, but if you demand for swimming there is a pool in the hotel Lone where the Days of communication is held. And you can always come back at June, July or August when the season takes.
