When I start studying Public Relations, in my classroom was only for boys out of twenty-eight girls. Later, when I run for the interviews in PR agency I’ve couldn’t see a mail PR officer there. It was strange to me because I don’t remember seeing any women from PR exposed. Most of the time in the media in Croatia we may see a man as representative of PR agency or some PR project or in political campaigns. So where are all the women? They are at every level except on the very top.

General in PR Industry are a lot more women than man. In the USA Women make up 63 percent of public relations “specialists,” according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics data, and 59 percent of all PR managers. Other estimates say the female percentage is closer to 73, or even 85 percent. In Croatia there are 70 percent women in the PR industry.

They multitask and organize better than men, they are team work oriented, able to pay attention to detail and to look at things from different perspectives, they have more better and sensitive ‘people’s skills’, and the most important they are able to combine it. Actually, these are essentials for the PR industry. Maybe

Do you have some ideas why is it like this? And why women dominate PR Industry but still not in the top management?
