In today’s post I will be writing about press releases and social media press release. What is the difference between them and what is similar? If you are curious to know, please keep reading.
To begin with lets see what the press release is? In Online Oxford Dictionary term press release is explained as an official statement issued to newspapers giving information on a particular matter. Public relations employees use press releases as basic and most useful tool. With press release, we can send news to journalists which will then write a story about us. So by making a succesfull press release, we can get free media coverage.
How technology changed the needs of the public are different. Young people nowadays want that the news comes to them, they want it to pop-up, they don’t like to search for the news. So the new way for young people to see the news is through online channels and new formats.
Here we come to new term social media press release. Social media press release is still being sent to journalists, but it is also shared on social networks, web page and others network pages. The difference between a traditional press release and social media press release is interactivity. The news/story is still suitable for traditional media, but the new thing is that it is also created to suit online community.
Social media press release is designed to help journalists, bloggers and customers get informed faster and easier. By looking at the text they see key parts of the story, key words and key message.
The main difference between these two types of press releases is that social media press release is not a static document. It is platform for more information and to connect with the target audience.
