Getting yourself out there

Advertisements

In Public Relations, it is important to get yourself out there, but firstly, to know how to get yourself out there. This post will concentrate on different ways and methods of getting noticed in the sea of different people and agencies.

Attend conferences and seminars

If you have a terrible stage fright, you should try to overcome it and what a better way to overcome than by listening and watching the others present? Conferences and seminars offer a various number of presenters and topics, some bigger experts, some beginners. Sign up and attend as many of them as you can.

Content management

Social media plays a big role in the modern business world. Even if you have to pay in order to get your advertisement out there, do it, even one person seeing it will matter. A blog is another great way and there are many platforms you can use, along with hashtags that other agencies and people visit on daily basis to keep up with the trends and competitions, but partners as well, so use that chance to get yourself a new business partner who’ll help you on your PR path.

Keep up with the trends

In order to do any of the above, you should keep up with the trends. Every good PR expert reads the morning paper before they get to their workplace. Like that, they are able to comment on the current situations and new trends, but also they can prepare themselves for a possible new clients, so it’s always good to be informed before the client even start explaining why do they need your help.

Use old-fashioned methods

Remember to take into consideration that not everyone is on social media these days, so don’t be afraid to pay for an advertisement in the papers, print out the flyers or even get a billboard or a poster. Also remember that people still watch TV and listen to the radio, take your time and think of a good slogan that will stick with people.

Speak up!

If you have a chance to speak at any of the conferences or seminars you attend, use the chance. There are many people whose biggest fear is stage fright, the key to overcoming it is, as is with everything, practice. Write down your speech, practice it in your most comfortable spot, in front of mirror, in the bed, whichever spot you like the best. Once you are sure that you know it perfectly and get out on the stage, simply remember how and where you practiced it and all the time you put into the practice will pay off once you deliver your best possible presentation.
