The DOs and DON’Ts of Business Makeup

It is well known that looking representable is one of the keys to success. Your professional image should not be underestimated, especially if you’re planning to advance in your career and achieve goals.
Dressing for success is so much more than simply choosing an outfit that looks fresh, casual and yet professional. The thought and care you put into your image includes makeup, hair, and manicure just as much as outfits.
In this post, I will be focusing on business make up. Makeup is a way to enhance your natural beauty or completely transform yourself into another person. However, today we’re talking about business makeup and our advice is to keep it minimal, simple and polished.
10 DO’s of Business Makeup:
1. Always start with a prepped skin (moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!)
2. Choose a lightweight foundation or a tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone.
3. Use a two to three shades lighter concealer to conceal the dark undereye circles and dark spots.
4. Choose neutral tones of eyeshadows with a little bit of sheen.
5. Instead of a bronzer, use a nice light colored blush that has a little sheen to act like a highlighter and blush.
6. Be careful with eyeliner. If you’re not good at it, don’t do it!
7. Use a black kohl eye pencil instead of eyeliner. It’s easier to use and you can always smudge it!
8. Don’t put too much mascara. Nobody likes “spider lashes”.
9. Keep your eyebrows groomed.
10. Chose a nude, neutral toned lipstick with a matching lip pencil to prevent smudging.

Now, let’s jump to DONTs.
10 DONTs of Business Makeup
1. Say no to dark, full coverage, cakey foundations.
2. No Instagram eyebrows!
3. No false lashes.
4. No heavy contouring.
5. No heavy highlighter.
6. No messy brows.
7. No messy eyeliner.
8. No dark lipsticks.
9. No vibrant eyeshadow colors.
10. No messy manicure!

My conclusion is to always keep your make up simple and clean. Always remember, you’re not trying to look like someone else, you’re just enhancing your natural beauty!
When it comes to Business makeup – less is more. This is the first part of the DOs and DONTs series. I will be talking about outfits, hairstyles, make up for big business events, etc.
