BEING “DIFFERENT” – GOOD OR BAD PR?

Always going by the rules and never saying/doing what you really believe in is definitely less dangerous and it is a good way to keep your image safe. Boring of course but safe. However, is that something people really embrace? Sucking up to your boss or professor, consistently being friendly with everyone, smiling all the time, always saying what other side wants to hear… is that really better than being yourself and authentic? My opinion is that this stuck up behaviour is generaly accepted behaviour in a group or a society but actually no one truly likes it.

Even if I disagree with someone’s belief, I have more respect for a person who will communicate honestly without gloves, than a person who doesn’t have opinion on anything or is being fake. If everyone thinks you are “OK” and if you always agree with everything someone might say, you know you are boring and something’s wrong with you.

Here are some  examples of how being honest, strong and not being a coward can bring you to the top. First example I would like to show you is:

Yes… Donald Trump. Whatever you might think of him, he is the president of the United States of America. From the very begining of his candidacy he was open about his plans for America and his opinion on every single matter. He was standing alone in a ring and fighting against everyone. Especially media and celebrities. They were all bashing and insulting him on social media, tv shows and everywhere they could from the start. He fought back, but most important, he didn’t let them win. So he won.

The second one is Ellen DeGeneres. She is an American comedian and tv host. She has one of the best and most famous talk shows in the world, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show“. She is also a LGBT activist which is why she was “attacked” by media and even some people from her audience. When she first said she was gay and that she wants to be honest and opened about it, some of her audience was disappointed in her and a lot of them didn’t support her anymore. But despite the fact that she knew that “coming out of the closet” could really affect on her career negatively, she was still brave enough to speak up about everything and fight for her dream and career as who she is. Even if she had rough time, today she is one of the richest and most popular person in the world.

Every success is based on action. And every action is based on what you believe in. What is important to you? For what do you want to fight for? When you have the answers to all these questions, the most important thing is to strongly believe in them and to never give up. Everyone can be basic, but very small number of people can be who they truly are and make it to the top. Being different is ok, but the key is to use that different wisely.
